Hay Dawg’s Imitation J-Dawg

HAY DAWG’S IMITATION J-DAWG

Hot Dog (He uses Polish or Beef--I used Turkey)
Bun
Onions (chopped)
Sauerkraut

Sauce:
3/4 c. ketcup
3/4 c brown sugar
1/4 c. honey
1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. onion powder

Add all ingredients in a saucepan. Boil for 1 minute and let cool.

Grill hot dog. Make slits going back and forth so the sauce can sink into the dog. Put on bun, add sauce, onions, and sauerkraut.

Haylee’s Note:
This is my 2nd attempt at this recipe! I know that it isn't perfect, but I think it is pretty good! If you have ever been to “J-Dawgs” in Provo, you know how good their hot dogs are. I still need to work on my sauce to make it more like his, but this is what I have come up with so far. Darin likes the plain ketchup, mustard, and relish. But, I am a big fan of the sauce, sauerkraut and onions. You can do it any ways that you like, but if you are ever in Provo, stop into J-Dawgs!! His are the BEST!!!

Thanks. I loved it. If you come up with anything closer, I'd say you must know the guy. This was fantastic!

Made this for my 4th of July BBQ. I haven't had the real thing in a while, but to me it tasted perfect! It was also fantastic on the ribs we grilled. Thank you so much!

They cut their dogs before grilling. THis way as it grills, it kind of expands, and you get more of the grilled flavor throughout the dog.
