Grandma Welling's Cinnamon Rolls

GRANDMA WELLING'S CINNAMON ROLLS

Mix and cool:

2 c. scalded milk
3/4 c. crisco
3/4 c. sugar
1 tbs. salt

Mix then add:
1 1/2 tbs yeast
1/4 c. warm water

Then add:
1 c. mashed potato
4 eggs
2 cups flour
add more flour until you get a sticky dough

Rise until double. Punch down. Rise until double again. Roll out dough 1/4-1/2" thick. (Tip: Pinch bottoms so that the filling doesn't fall all to the bottom when cooking).

Spread with:
1/2 c. melted butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/8 c. cinnamon
1 c. brown sugar

Roll up and cut with string 2" wide. Put 6 in 9x13. Rise 1 hour. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Frost with butter frosting.

Haylee's Note:
My grandma made these every year for Christmas with her breakfast caserol. My mom has also made these several times for me at school or other such things. Everyone always loves them! They are the best!!

Question: When your recipes call for mash potatoes are you using instant mashed potatoes or real mashed potatoes. Love your blog. Thanks for sharing.

I've done both real mashed potatoes and instant, and they turn out great either way. :) Thanks for the question!
