Hot Chocolate Mix

HOT CHOCOLATE MIX

1 large bottle of Cremora
2 lbs. Hersheys instant chocolate
1 lb. Powdered sugar
20 quarts of instant milk

Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container. Just add hot water.

Haylee’s Note:
I don’t have the exact measurements of water to mix, but I think you can figure it out. I will admit, I am not above buying Steven’s Hot Coco, but I think it is always good to have a scratch recipe on hand. (In fact I really do like the Stevens better than this.)

Darin’s Home-made Root Beer

DARIN’S HOME-MADE ROOT BEER

5 gallons luke-warm water
5 pounds sugar
1 bottle root beer concentrate
1 packet yeast

Mix yeast with one cup of warm water and set aside. Combine remaining ingredients and add yeast. Pour into bottles that can be sealed. Let sit for 2-3 days or until it reaches the desired amount of carbonation. Refrigerate.

Haylee’s Note:
This is not your normal Halloween Root Beer with dry ice. This is the kind of root beer that "puts hair on your chest."  I am yet to meet a Gunnerson that doesn’t love this drink. My mom, her brothers, and my Grandpa Welling love it too. This recipe is not for everyone, but one our family wants to save for the generations!

Pina Coldas

PINA COLADAS

1 cup coconut milk
1 cup ice
1 cup pineapple
1 banana
2 tsp vanilla
Sugar and Honey to taste

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Serve cold. Garnish with fresh pineapple.

Haylee’s Note:
These were excellent pina colada’s. I really wished that I had those little umbrellas and cute straws because I know that would have made them taste even better!! Some people might not think those cute umbrellas change the taste—but I think they do!!

Peach Smoothies

PEACH SMOOTHIES

1 container yogurt (any flavor)
2 peaches
1 tbs vanilla
1/4 c orange juice concentrate
1/2 cup (or more) skim milk
6-12 ice cubes

Combine in blender. Add more or less of any ingredient as desired.

Haylee's Note:
These are really yummy and really healthy. Darin likes his with ice cream instead of yogurt—a little less healthy but still good. Also, I know that this sounds silly, but they really do taste better with a straw and a fancy umbrella in them!
