HAMBURGER SOUP

1 1/2 quarts water
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. potatoes
1 c. cabbage shredded
1/2 tsp pepper
3 carrots
1/2 c. celery
1 qt. tomato juice
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp basil
1/2 tsp. thyme
1/2 tbsp salt
Brown hamburger. Drain. Cut all vegetables bite size. Put everything together in a big pot. Cook 2 hours. Remove bay leaf.
Haylee’s Note:
Growing up I HATED this soup, but now I LOVE it! I didn’t have tomato juice when I made this last time so I just used a can of whole tomatoes and chopped the tomatoes a little smaller. I really liked it that way too!! Chunks of tomato are always good! This bowl of soup is delicious on a cold winter day, or in Bountiful, a snowy day in April!!

I like the idea of getting a burger fix in a soup. Have a burger bun aside to dip and sop up the sauce and you are pretty close to the real thing. Hold on, no pickle? ツ
